used to be a dream and still is (somehow)

When I was still single, I had this crazy dream of becoming a musician someday. I wanted to be someone who can sing, play the guitar, and compose some songs. No matter how hard I tried, though, my voice just wasn't good enough to deserve any audience, attention, or praise. Still, my love for music was so great that I wanted to learn how to play the guitar so I can go ahead with composing and creating songs. At that time, I got to learn how to play a few songs that only make use of the basic chords like A-D-A-G, C-G-Em-F. I didn't get to learn a lot after that, though, since I am only able to practice whenever friends or neighbors would lend me their guitars. Now, I thought it would have been great if I found the time and money to pursue what I loved to do back then. Even if I won't make a career out of it, I would have practically enjoyed doing it as a hobby and then I would be able to pass what I've learned to my musically inclined daughter! Well, it's not yet too

spam calls are on the rise

Lately, I've been getting spam calls from my cell phone. I call them spam calls because, just like most junk e-mails, they're all unsolicited. What is not so right about it was that they are representing on behalf of a bank or insurance company. In fact, today, someone called me up and he said he is from a reputable bank. He even challenged me to verify his identity through a hotline number he randomly dictated. He said he called to offer automatic approval of credit card that's designed for women. Take note, it's automatic approval because I didn't apply for it but the person on the phone told me I am qualified and I get approved but only if I spare 3 minutes of my time to give him the important information that he needs. Hmmmm … Sounds fishy, right? He probably thought I would fall for it. I thought if he's from some reputable bank, he wouldn't have used a mobile number to begin with. When I declined and told the caller that I'm at work and won't b

a classmate's jewelry business

A former classmate of mine runs a jewelry shop. It used to be his father's business for many years. He took over when his dad expressed his intention to retire. It's also a good thing that he had the interest in running the business. It can be seen in his unique and beautiful designs of jewelries - from wedding rings to earrings. Because of his passion, the transition of ownership from father to son was a success. In fact, he was able to open a few more branches of their shop outside the city. With his great designs, I believe he has a chance to widen his target market if he brings this business Online . After all, people are already buying jewelries on the internet, all in the name of convenience.

on loving and hating the rainy days

I have a love-hate relationship with the rainy days.  I do love the rainy days because this is one of those times when I can enjoy a sip of hot coffee at home. It's also a perfect time to be lazy - to just curl up in bed and get relaxed. Moreover, I am a nicer person when it's raining. I'm always in a good mood because I am able to relax, eat and sleep well. When it's raining, husband and I can save some water for watering the plants. The rain also takes care of this chore for us. :-) But don't you just hate it when it's raining and you're still on your way to work?  Well, except when you have a car that doesn't get stuck in the flood, going to work when it's raining is really no fun at all, right? It can also be quite a challenge to not get your clothes and your shoes wet. Let's not even talk about the challenge of coming to the workplace on time. Sometimes, it's just too tempting for me to call in sick so I don't have to brave the hea

quick background checks for safety and advantage

When you need to hire someone right away, chances are that you are likely to rely on your instincts and skip through the process of making a background check on your nearly-qualified prospect. I say "nearly qualified" because of the fact that a background check on a candidate for employment is not something that should be overlooked lest you go through the risk and dangers of getting someone on board with a questionable character. Whether you are hiring corporate employees or just someone to watch over your kid while you are out to make some money, running that quick and easy background checks on your prospects/candidates should be to your safety and advantage.

a challenge is up

My 30-day personal challenge has long started but I have not even started yet. I am 13 days short of time to meet my goal of getting 25 articles approved in Ezine within 30 days. Waaaaaa. I hope I don't get too busy this weekend as I really need to get this personal challenge to work for me. No excuses this time. :-)
