i'm loving my husband's humor

So, you think my husband's too serious that he can't throw in some punchlines? Well, let me prove you wrong with these two things that happened within the week. 1. I am not a singer but I love to sing. I thought my husband was already used to hearing me getting carried away with the song when his comment suddenly stopped me from belting out a song. Husband: It's not my birthday today. Me: I know. Husband: Then why am I hearing a butchered pig? :-) 2. When there was power outage, we used candles to light the house because our emergency light was no longer working. I got bored waiting for the power to return so I tried to dance my boredom away by teasingly doing it in front of my husband. Hubby then exclaimed, " Where's the manager of this club? I want the dancer replaced! " Grrrr.. I hate brownouts. :-)

so this is why i got scared (joke only)

At her very young age of one year and two months, I think somehow my toddler already knows how to pay attention. So, in many of our walks in the mooonlit night, I kept asking Dipdip this question, " Where's the star? " and then I would also teach her the answer " Star! (pointing my finger up in the sky)". I was amazed because each time I would ask her that question, I would instantly get an answer from her by pointing her finger up in the sky. So, this is why I got scared hehehe... fast forward...

just a hot... hot dog!

[The paragraphs you will read below are from my mommy Diana's journal. Even though she has already joined our Creator, I still feel very much connected to her in many ways, especially because I kept her journals with me. I've always loved her funny and natural way of telling her experiences even though I know that sometimes there are emotional or sad stories behind them, just like this one.. Read on if you are curious. :-)] I was inside a room in a hospital, I wasn't supposed to enter... of course, I can read numbers, have virtually memorized the room I was always visiting and sometimes doing some attendance ... the patient was a dear person in my heart. Naturally, to go back in that room was instinct. I forgot that my patient has insinuated the other day that he will transfer to a very expensive suite 'coz staying there for almost a month was flagellation if he won't transfer. The attending nurse had announced earlier there was now a vacancy on that long coveted

seriously hilarious

You may have noticed that I have been sharing home videos lately and have almost turned this blog into a video blog. :-) Forgive me for doing this again because I just can't help but share this next video to the world because this one is just seriously hilarious ! I took this video of my father-in-law singing. This is just one of the series of videos that I took during our karaoke sessions. Check out how the performance turned out with the in-laws around. Now, this is why I love my in-laws! :-)

children and politics

In lieu of the upcoming May 2010 Elections in the Philippines, I thought it would be timely to share this politics anecdote that my mom had wrote in her journal: Did You Or Didn't You ? My husband had run as a candidate in our barangay. Once in a while we got misunderstandings because even then we almost lost our privacy. Now and then, even if we slept, someone knocked on our doors. Others came when we were very busy...just to ask donations and others... quite intentional during the campaign period. "You've not yet seated, you have already too many commitments, how much more if you're elected!" was my comment, shared by my eldest daughter, a 17-year old college student. "Never mind, we, our party agreed to give!" was his reply. After the election, he landed almost at the bottom. In short, he wasn't elected. Since I was not unhappy , my children looked at me with a suspecting eye, " Mom, did you vote for Dad?" :-)

ending this month with a happy post

For some reason, I'd like to end this month with a happy post, although, this could rightfully make for a good April Fool's post. Have any of you ever drank or tasted beer? To be honest with you, I have and I did. I remembered I was in fourth year high school then when I had my first taste of beer - it was a glass of pale pilsen and it was with my mom's permission. It tasted bitter at first but then I got used to the taste. :-) She believed that beer, if drank in moderation, has a health benefit - something to do with good blood circulation. When I was already working, and for some reason, I learned to occasionally go out with friends on a weeknight and engage in long talks with them. We could chat all night with beer and some chips to go with it. Don't get me wrong, though, I wasn't and I am not alcoholic, although there was a point in my life that I overly drank and vomited because I thought I could handle it (it was a stronger kind of beer) but when it was ti

On The Ringside With The Nanny

It was shown on television that hours before Manny Pacquiao fought triumphantly against Joshua Clottey, the famous ring announcer Michael Buffer had walked into Manny's room to have his gloves signed. Here's what Dipdip's Ate Virgie (the nanny slash relative) had to say about it. "That Michael Buffer – he is not a boxer, right? I don't think he will have any use for those gloves." Stephen and I can't help but laugh at her innocent comments before we had the chance to explain that the gloves were autographed for memorabilia's sake. :-)

finding humor even in difficult times

Here's another entry from mom's journal of happy moments . I don't know why she found this one funny. Well, back then, she always finds the humor in everything; even in difficult times. Read on below if you want to know the details. Back To The Original  My eldest daughter, a high school graduating student wanted a new pair of shoes. Our remaining budget could not afford to buy her one, except when she has to wait for the next payday. She has caused me confusion when she, on tantrums, demanded immediate replacement when she kicked the worn-out shoe in front of the T.V. set where we were viewing at the time of her need. I really noticed when she kicked them off the floor that there are holes in the soles.

fascinated with words!

It is still February, right? I figured you want another dose of happy moments from mom's journal ... During one of our home parties given in favor of my brother who has just arrived from his singing stint abroad, he had 2 of his closest friends (Bebe and Roque) to stay up late for a very interesting discussion - a topic about linguistics applied to different countries. Manny, my brother said that in Japan, it was very hard to apply what you can easily learn in English. "In English language," he said, "we can use terms to substitute the words we mean to say. Synonyms, in short." "Yes, it's true!" the younger visitor of the two, nicknamed Bebe, said. "Just like for example when we say "like". It's like "love" and there's another term for that. There are many substitutes you know... it is...." he forgot and asked Roque about it. Roque mentioned many synonymous words yet they haven't agreed because the yo

it's my sister's turn to get blogged

Meet my sister Jemjem. She's a call center agent. But did you know that when she was eight, she already had some potential? Little did we know she had the makings of a call center agent. Hehehe, what was I trying to say? LOL, just like my brother Jason, she's in mom's journal, too. Read on below what was written about her. :-) Poster Memory My 16 yr. old daughter's door has a poster that says " Everytime I finally get it all together, I forget where I put it!" I do not know this line could be used by my 8 yr. old daughter [Jemjem]. She has memorized this since it is pasted in front of the door opposite our dining table. Everytime she eats, she gets the chance to read this and has committed it to memory without really trying. Finally, she has used this line when her balikbayan cousin, a U.S. citizen, has asked her questions which she do not know how to answer fluently in English. When this 2-yr old girl asked her, "Where's my magic spring? I wa

have i lost my sense of humor?

I have always looked at life as a roller coaster ride. Some days are happy, some days are sad. Today, you’re in trouble, the next day, your happiness is doubled. And whether we like it or not, we will journey through this life with both the bitter and the better things. It’s just a matter of dealing with the bitter and savoring the better—and hopefully, looking forward to the best. Wow, am I getting serious or what? Have I lost my sense of humor? Being married is not just all fun and romance. It is also a lifetime commitment and obligation to your partner and to the marriage. Having or expecting a baby gives another excitement to the marriage but it also requires an even more serious role for the couple. Talk about trying to make all ends meet. Raising your child with the good and right values. Trying to shape ourselves to become the best parents we can be. This and probably much more. I’m sure you already know by now that hubby will be out of job effective February 28th. When you rea
