Showing posts with the label husband

towards our seventh this year

My husband is not the type who wants to wear jewelries and accessories. Yes, he is that simple. If there's one jewelry that I can ask him to wear, that would have to be our wedding ring; although that, too, is something I would sometimes need to remind him about. Anyway, speaking of my husband, I realized we've been married for almost seven years already. The other day, I jokingly hinted at him that since he did not give me anything on Valentine's Day (he's not the showy or mushy type), the seven years of our marriage very well deserve a Scott Kay wedding band as our anniversary gift for each other this year. Thankfully (not really sure why I said 'thankfully'), he didn't really say No to this suggestion. I thought I should at least feel a pang of hope but he only said to wait another 18 years. LOL. By then, I'm sure I would already have a different wish. Seriously, I'm really not that materialistic; although I also wouldn't mind being spoiled so...

it's husband appreciation day for me

Today is husband appreciation day for me and I have got to say it here - my husband is a rare find! These days, hardly do we find a guy who doesn't drink or smoke. Well, he would drink beer on rare occasions with family but he certainly knows his limits. In fact, most of the time he cannot go beyond two bottles of beer/pale pilsen. Also, with cigar prices soaring high lately due to the implementation of "sin" taxes in our country, any wife like me would appreciate a husband like him who doesn't smoke at all. He said he already knew the negative consequences of being a smoker; so, why should he cultivate smoking as a vice? For that and more, I am so grateful to God for bringing him to me.

a belated Father's Day post

Image
Lately, I guess I am not really that good enough at keeping my posts up to date especially when it comes to special occasions. This special day didn't go by, though, without celebrating it with hubby and my little girl. I also didn't forget to call dad on this day. I was able to greet father-in-law the day before that. Glad we were able to talk a day ahead because I learned their telephone line needed fixing after that. We had a simple celebration of Father's Day last week at home. We grilled one big fish that we had bought from the market. Aside from that, we also had some clams. It was gastronomically satisfying. Unfortunately, I forgot to take some pictures. I'll have to remember to do that next time. As for my gift for husband, he insisted to have it postponed. Indeed, as of now, we'll do well financially when we put other planned expenses aside. So, I gave him another gift that money can't buy. :-)

the perfect gift for husband

My husband has been planning on making kitchen cabinet but he keeps on postponing it because of his busy schedule. Besides, his collection of tools is not enough to build the cabinet. He just found that out when he was browsing some DIY website on the internet. He got almost all the tools mentioned on that particular website except for those drill press accessories which he finds really important to be able to finish the job neatly and efficiently. Since father's day is approaching, I just realized that this would be the perfect gift I can give to him and maybe he can no longer find excuses not to build that cabinet.

husband's dream for himself

Earlier I mentioned about my dream of becoming a professor in the future. Isn't it pretty neat to have teaching as my ultimate profession? I thought so. Husband thinks so, too. Speaking of husband, he has a dream for himself as well. He said he'd like to hone himself to become a successful seller or marketer someday. He has already envisioned that one day he'll be showing around his metal business card to his prospects. In order to succeed, though, he has acknowledged that he needs to work harder to improve his communication and marketing skills. I  would be happiest if he gets to realize all he wishes to become one day.

thinking of a gift for a terrific husband

I have personally declared this day as husband appreciation day. I do appreciate him everyday for everything that he is and everything that he does but just this week, he had practically over delivered. I will spare all the details but it has something to do with him being a great listener. You see, when there's something that's bothering or troubling me, he is all ears for me. What seemed to be complicated for me seemed easy enough for him to solve. For all those times that he's been a terrific husband and confidant, I thought he deserved to have a gift from me and I am thinking of getting him a guitar and a chord book. He's been wanting to add guitar playing to his list of his hobbies. Hopefully, he will be able to learn how to play great music and I’ll be his biggest fan he will never lose. The purchase will have to wait, though, as I am still saving up my extra earnings online to be able to come up with an amount to pay for such a terrific musical instrument.

i'm loving my husband's humor

So, you think my husband's too serious that he can't throw in some punchlines? Well, let me prove you wrong with these two things that happened within the week. 1. I am not a singer but I love to sing. I thought my husband was already used to hearing me getting carried away with the song when his comment suddenly stopped me from belting out a song. Husband: It's not my birthday today. Me: I know. Husband: Then why am I hearing a butchered pig? :-) 2. When there was power outage, we used candles to light the house because our emergency light was no longer working. I got bored waiting for the power to return so I tried to dance my boredom away by teasingly doing it in front of my husband. Hubby then exclaimed, " Where's the manager of this club? I want the dancer replaced! " Grrrr.. I hate brownouts. :-)

on hardware and hardships

Image
What a title, hahaha! Well, we just hit the hardware store today. My handyman husband wanted to change the oil of his motorcycle but he didn't have the tool to loosen its drain plug. Well, he desperately wanted to buy a whole set of wrench tools but we ended up buying only a piece of closed end wrench. It was so tempting to swipe the credit card to buy the whole set for him - after all, I really wanted him to have what he wished for especially because Father's Day is almost near but he didn't want me to do that because it's not really necessary to buy at the moment. When her sister was here, she gave him a monetary gift so he can buy himself some tools but my daughter almost ran out of milk and diapers and we're short of cash at that time, so off the money went to the baby's needs instead. Now, I remember my uncle N when he said he just can't understand why many of us (including himself) would want to get married and end up having a hard time managing ou...

the spaghetti love story

Image
To tell you the truth, it's my husband who does much of the cooking around the house. I believe he cooks better than I do. And faster, too! If you want me to cook, you better give me a lot of time so I can do it pretty good. When husband is cooking, he would already heat the pan or start the cooking right away while he is also busy cutting, slicing or preparing the rest of the ingredients to his recipe. He's definitely an ideal home chef! As for me, I like to have everything cut, sliced or prepared ahead before I turn on the heat and get everything started. Yesterday, when there was power interruption, I decided to make spaghetti for all of us. I thought it would be a perfect pre-Valentine's Day treat! I especially made my husband's spaghetti plate extra special by carving out small hearts by knife from the red bell pepper. I secretly carved it out when he did the errand to buy the can of spaghetti meat sauce. So, when I served him his spaghetti plate, he was like sur...
