happy annniversary to my blog

Today would have been the end of it all - I really thought my blogging days here are over but, thanks to dear husband, he has motivated me to keep this blog alive again. I sure was ready to let go and move on when I was having second thoughts of renewing this domain because I also rarely had the time to update this. The husband knew I loved this blog and wanted me to keep it for as long as I want it and if I still would want to do something about it. I am quite thankful he's extending his all-out support for this blogging hobby/pastime of mine. I love you, husband. Now, I hope to be able to pick up where I left off.

getting caught up

The past few weeks went pretty hectic that I again find it really hard to sneak in to blog as well as to blog hop. Yes, the line had been very busy again. Thinking about it, I felt sad about not being able to see my good friend before she went back to the U.S. There is also another friend that I have been meaning to see and she's even just around the corner from where I work. Oh, I really felt bad about not being able to attend to two consecutive birthday parties hosted by these two mommy friends. My little girl should have enjoyed the two separate Jollibee birthday parties but it was too bad because her mom got caught up with other pressing itineraries. It's a good thing that these mommy friends understood me and my situation. I do hope to make it up to them next time! I have not even written/blogged long enough but my daughter wouldn't get to sleep if I don't sleep beside her. So, off to bed will I go now. I'll probably just pretend to sleep and sneak back in i

blogging is a must for all businesses

Image
I recently had a word with a friend/officemate who already started a home-based online business. I think she and her partner did pretty well that I thought going into it is worth a try one day. I guess I am going to have to start planning my own business as well. I must say that I find her small business blogging activities worth emulating one day. These days, I think that it is already expected for a small business, no matter what kind/type of business it is, to maintain a blog and update it frequently. This is one way that visitors will know that your business is very active because you have put every effort to maintain your website/blog and provide some information that visitors and potential customers might need to know. Right now, though, I am already contented with accepting content writing opportunities for extra income - SEO and the works. This is why I always see the need to update this blog every so often because I don't want potential clients to have a wrong impress

I miss blogging, big time

Image
Thanks to a former officemate who left all her bookmarks on the computer which I am already using at work, I have learned some very useful tips about blogging and marketing. I particularly find Chris Brogan's blog interesting that I have actually subscribed to his posts and newsletter. Among the many things I learned from him was to never apologize if you haven't written in awhile. Hmmm, I must admit I was about to do that ('apologize') after contemplating on getting back to the blogging world. Anyway, I felt like it didn't matter to most readers/visitors that I was on hiatus - well aware of the fact that the world can go on without me or my blog update. Let me just say that I really miss blogging again, BIG time! I miss all my blogging friends. Time is indeed both an enemy and a friend - depends on how we make use of it. I'll have to remember that every time I choose not to update my blog just because I can always put it off tomorrow or the day after. :-)

the resilient woman is back :-)

Okay, so I failed again. I failed to be be back from the blogging hiatus earlier as I promised I would. Somehow, I misappropriated my return to the blogging world but, hey, please spread the word out - the resilient woman is back :-) Now I understand why one of my blogger friends chose to quit the blogging world to prioritize other more important things like taking care of her toddler, her family, and her studies. I don't blame her. As for me, though, I really have no plans of leaving the blogging world for good. I am resilient. This is why I keep coming back. :-) Anyway, I'll just let you in on my past activities that have kept me busy. Aside from work, parenting has kept me and my husband busy. Yes, weekends especially. We make sure that we have time to bond with our toddler who just turned two years old last March. Yes, she has already entered her second year and so far, she's been a little harder to handle. Quite an attention seeker! Let me share to you ou

blogging boredom

Hello mashkans ! Obviously, I forgot to leave a message and took an immediate hiatus from blogging. Although I know I don't really need to explain anything, I feel like I owe it to my friends and fellow bloggers to let them know that, as always, I appreciate all the visit and comments and that I shall be back to blogging pretty soon. So, in answer to my friend Georyl's post on blogging burnout ,  I'm not really bored with blogging. It's just that life gets in the way sometimes and it really needs to take a back seat. LOL Missing you my friend and everybody else in the blogging world. You understand, right? :-) Rest assured that I'll return all your visits and I promise to come back with some awards again to give. This blogging hiatus shan't be long as I look forward to March. Soon, it will be my daughter's second birthday!

january blogging updates

Image
January is almost over but it looks like I just started to realize I haven't been writing much around here. I know I haven't been updating this blog on a regular basis but I just can't get out of this "busy" mode still since the start of the New Year. Anyway, I guess I should be able to catch up now. I hope to write at least two updates a week and visit back my blogging friends who also took the time to visit me here. I think this would be a good setup for the time being. Reminds me, I have yet to post my Lovely Blog Award s (and my Mashkan awards !) before this month ends. Anyway, I was talking to a blogger friend the other day and asked me if I ever thought of hosting this blog to wordpress. I thought, it would be cool to be blogging in a wordpress platform but I need to research first if it's possible to retain the PR I just earned back from G this January in case I'd consider transferring my three-year-old blog to a wordpress web host. Any experts

my own mashka domain

If you've noticed, I just got a new domain! No, I didn't buy it myself. I take credit from my fairy godfriend Jenn Lord . Oh my sweet Lord, thanks for this new domain. Hopefully next year, I will be the one to renew it. Thanks again!See you on your wedding. So it's joannamashka.com now with the blogspot removed. If you're wondering why I used joannamashka. It's because joannemarie.com was already taken. I could've used walkthroughlife too but it's already taken as well. Then I remembered a good friend of mine Coco who used to call me "Mashka" during high school, a name taken from a character in one of the pocketbooks she came across reading. So it's a combination of Joanne and Mashka, joannamashka. Like you really wanna know the story. Hehehe. Like I really wanna sing right now "I'm nothing special.. in fact, I'm a bit of a bore~~~" And don't ask me how I got meretrisha. I coined it myself. It's definitely not taken f

go for profit and fun

Next to singing the videoke, blogging turned out to be my most interesting and enjoyable hobby because this is where I have gained new friends. In fact, right now, with the entrance of baby Pauline, it has totally replaced videoke singing as my favorite hobby. Baby Pauline would surely be awakened from her sleep if I would still be belting my way through Celine Dione’s or Whitney Houston’s songs. Oh, surely it would be a nightmare for her! Anyhow, after a year of blogging, I also noticed that I already have a PageRank 1 for my blog. I’m no expert about how websites are ranked by Google but I’m already happy that it has achieved a PR 1 rating. It’s been zero for the last several months. Talk about hitting two birds with one stone. I do not only enjoy blogging as a hobby, I sometimes earn from it. This is why I’ve come to love and embrace blogging more and more. Blogging is indeed both profitable and fun! So, I’m thinking, if I’m blogging for profit and fun, why not make t
