the burglar's story

I was scanning through mom's journal again and found this interesting to share to everybody. This is great for Sunday reflection. So, in spirit, I asked her permission for her journal to guest post on my blog. I think she said yes! So here it goes... My eldest sister and her husband went mountain climbing. No one's going to be left home except my brother S who was living with them. Supposedly, the house could be my mother's place if everybody's out but she visited me here in the province. Brother S who was to man the house had a class in the morning so no one was around except when his class in the afternoon would end. So, he decided to bolt the door while he was yet away.

just a hot... hot dog!

[The paragraphs you will read below are from my mommy Diana's journal. Even though she has already joined our Creator, I still feel very much connected to her in many ways, especially because I kept her journals with me. I've always loved her funny and natural way of telling her experiences even though I know that sometimes there are emotional or sad stories behind them, just like this one.. Read on if you are curious. :-)] I was inside a room in a hospital, I wasn't supposed to enter... of course, I can read numbers, have virtually memorized the room I was always visiting and sometimes doing some attendance ... the patient was a dear person in my heart. Naturally, to go back in that room was instinct. I forgot that my patient has insinuated the other day that he will transfer to a very expensive suite 'coz staying there for almost a month was flagellation if he won't transfer. The attending nurse had announced earlier there was now a vacancy on that long coveted...

finding humor even in difficult times

Image
Here's another entry from mom's journal of happy moments . I don't know why she found this one funny. Well, back then, she always finds the humor in everything; even in difficult times. Read on below if you want to know the details. Back To The Original  My eldest daughter, a high school graduating student wanted a new pair of shoes. Our remaining budget could not afford to buy her one, except when she has to wait for the next payday. She has caused me confusion when she, on tantrums, demanded immediate replacement when she kicked the worn-out shoe in front of the T.V. set where we were viewing at the time of her need. I really noticed when she kicked them off the floor that there are holes in the soles.

fascinated with words!

It is still February, right? I figured you want another dose of happy moments from mom's journal ... During one of our home parties given in favor of my brother who has just arrived from his singing stint abroad, he had 2 of his closest friends (Bebe and Roque) to stay up late for a very interesting discussion - a topic about linguistics applied to different countries. Manny, my brother said that in Japan, it was very hard to apply what you can easily learn in English. "In English language," he said, "we can use terms to substitute the words we mean to say. Synonyms, in short." "Yes, it's true!" the younger visitor of the two, nicknamed Bebe, said. "Just like for example when we say "like". It's like "love" and there's another term for that. There are many substitutes you know... it is...." he forgot and asked Roque about it. Roque mentioned many synonymous words yet they haven't agreed because the yo...

Got No Pain!

I'm saving this space again to make way for Mom's journal about me when I was 10 years old. If you have read my prequel to the writer and the pen post, then don't miss out on this one. This happened when I was in the fourth grade, I think. I guess I was a little hard headed during my younger years. :-) Read on if you're curious about what I did which deserved this entry to my mom's journal of happy moments. Got No Pain!  My daughter, Joan, has something in common with her brods and sis. It was her way of handling physical pain in a detached manner . One time, she was trying to play spinning top. I immediately told her to give back the top to her elder brother coz she has no right to play a game that befits the opposite sex. She was 10 years old, this time. However much I rebuked her not to do such a thing, she positioned herself to spin the top and she did it clumsily that it landed not on the floor but on to her gums! Believe me, I really saw blood com...

it's my sister's turn to get blogged

Image
Meet my sister Jemjem. She's a call center agent. But did you know that when she was eight, she already had some potential? Little did we know she had the makings of a call center agent. Hehehe, what was I trying to say? LOL, just like my brother Jason, she's in mom's journal, too. Read on below what was written about her. :-) Poster Memory My 16 yr. old daughter's door has a poster that says " Everytime I finally get it all together, I forget where I put it!" I do not know this line could be used by my 8 yr. old daughter [Jemjem]. She has memorized this since it is pasted in front of the door opposite our dining table. Everytime she eats, she gets the chance to read this and has committed it to memory without really trying. Finally, she has used this line when her balikbayan cousin, a U.S. citizen, has asked her questions which she do not know how to answer fluently in English. When this 2-yr old girl asked her, "Where's my magic spring? I wa...

Today Is My Bro's Birthday

Image
Today is my brother's birthday! He's in Bahrain, so we couldn't be with him on his special day. So, as our birthday treat, we just made a simple video greeting courtesy of animoto and youtube (we didn't spend a penny on this one but you know it's A for effort hehehe) to greet him a happy birthday. And as another birthday surprise, I will share to you mom's journal about him when he was still 8 years old. Okay, Fight!!! Jason, my youngest son when he was eight and one of his classmates became mortal enemies. I don't know why but I always hear them to be having boxing bouts everyday on very trivial things. This I've learned whenever he's home with cuts or bruise, sometimes only a scratch to indicate he has won at times. One time, according to Jason, her Lola (my mother's sister-in-law) saw them fighting across the street. He was scolded and they were stopped and separated at one moment only to be surprised when her Lola then moved them ba...

the prequel to the writer and the pen

When it comes to my mom, I will never run out of stories to tell even when she is now already with the Lord. We got along very well except for those tiny things like using her pens and losing them eventually that it would really send her irate. I know mom wouldn't mind if I share what she had written on her journal because she was supposed to have this one published. DIARY'S DIARY by Mommy Diana I was folding my eldest daughter's clothings when I noticed a two-year old diary. I have 2 feelings when I saw it: One, is to read it out of curiosity ; the other is to ignore it as something trivial or inane. Then a thought came as suddenly as I was about to set it aside, that of knowing how I rated with her as a mother, either she loves me or hates me. As a full-time wife and mother, I thought I could read something flattering that could encourage me to do better than before if not my best. As I was scanning the pages which are of value to me, I finally ran my fingers...
