that one challenging and difficult song

Let me just quickly update you on our little girl's interest in singing. Although she's not done yet with her all-time favorite Disney theme song "Let It Go", she is now starting to learn a new song that she discovered online and that is Chandelier by Sia. Quite a challenging and difficult song, I must say. In fact, she tried to sing along with this song on youtube over and over so she can get the notes (and hopefully the lyrics) perfectly right; however, it looks like she would do better with custom ear plugs on. With the ear plugs' noise reduction feature, there is a good chance that she can concentrate and won't get lost with the notes. Yeah, I really think that's what she needs to get help improve or develop her singing.

on towards the lucky seventh

In just a few days, marriage with husband will turn 7. Not that long a marriage mileage when compared to other couples, I know, but I am happy to say that, in all those years, life with him and our little girl was awesome. We've also faced all the storms in our life together without fear because we've already rest our worries to our awesome God. I have been listening to this John Legend song for awhile now and I think I would love for this to be our anniversary song. Why not? " All of Me " is such a great song and I like the entire lyrics. Indeed, love grows each and every day that overlooking one another's imperfections already becomes second nature. So, here's to our 7 years of being together as a couple: ... And definitely looking forward to the succeeding years towards a lifelong marriage.

Jim Carrey's Moving Speech at MUM - Packed with Great Wisdom (and Some Humor)

Here's an even great reason to love Jim Carrey . I actually just came across his touching video tonight, taken while he was delivering a speech to the graduating students of 2014 at a prestigious university (Maharishi University of Management). His speech was really something, huh! Now, I wonder where was I when this video started circulating on the web? Indeed, this man rightfully deserves the recognition, an honorary degree, he received from the university. At one point in my life, I thought he's just one funny celebrity guy that can help erase people's problems (while watching his movies) but there's actually more to him than just being that. The video, as of this writing, has already reached close to 3 million views. And if you are not one of those who have already watched it, I'm sharing the video of his full speech here. Watching it should be well worth our time.. In fact, I really thought we should keep playing this over and over, if only to make sure that

looks like the pressure is on us

Upon reaching home, I got excited to show the little girl the printed photo of the 3 of us. I had our family picture printed because she is supposed to do her assignment for tomorrow and that is to paste a picture of her family within the space provided in her Language book. I had it labeled "mother", "father", "daughter" accordingly since, according to her, the teacher verbally instructed to label each member of the family in the picture. At first, she looked really excited to see the photo that she grabbed it quickly from my hand to get a really good view. Suddenly, the happy and excited expression on her face quickly transitioned into a worrisome look. We had to find out why. Almost crying, she said she doesn't want to get a "zero" mark for not being able to provide a picture with a brother or sister in it. I tried to assure her she will not get a "zero" on her assignment because we are only 3 in the family and that she is our

that one gift that made me smile

Husband and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary next month. Yes, we will be turning 7! It's not that long a marriage yet but I've been really blessed with such a good husband and a wonderful father to our daughter. Every time our wedding anniversary comes near, my thoughts would often go back to our wedding day, like it's almost always in playback mode. Wedding photos are likely to get revisited, too. I wonder if most wives are like that. Or perhaps I'm the only one doing this. Sometimes it would even go as far back to the time that we were still in the boyfriend-girlfriend stage. Ah, things like these can really give a good start of the day. I also remembered some of the wedding gifts I have received from friends and family. I'll never forget one of those gifts from a friend that really made me smile (okay, chuckle should be the right word) - it's  bridal lingerie ! She practically gave her gift to me secretly in advance to make sure I'd be able

the start of a long December - a prelude to Christmas

It's still September but, if you look around, some people have already started putting up their Christmas decorations and making their homes feel like it's already the most wonderful time of the year. Oh, for some reason, I'm also excited that Christmas is already near. It's going to be a long December for many of us, indeed! Been planning to add Christmas series lights and a lighted lantern right outside the home to contribute to the Christmas-sy feel of the community. Husband thinks we should still put it off, though, because the country has been experiencing bad weather in succession lately and he wants to make sure we won't just ruin what we would spend for the decorations. Okay, so maybe we could start with a new Christmas tree inside the house? Spell budget. Budget spell. Well, we don't have to spend so much, right? :-)

how he ended up getting some inquiries

When we were at the mall to do some grocery shopping, I noticed that our little girl keeps looking at the yamaha pianos on display at the music shop. We then decided to stop by because her curious gaze then shifted to the guy who started tinkering the piano to play a really feel-good love song. The guy certainly made a pretty good show because more and more people just can't help but stop by and listen. Not only did he lure some people to appreciate his talent, he also ended up getting a lot of inquiries about the pianos. Eventually, he ended up getting a sale. Now, isn't that great, effortless but effective marketing?

happy annniversary to my blog

Today would have been the end of it all - I really thought my blogging days here are over but, thanks to dear husband, he has motivated me to keep this blog alive again. I sure was ready to let go and move on when I was having second thoughts of renewing this domain because I also rarely had the time to update this. The husband knew I loved this blog and wanted me to keep it for as long as I want it and if I still would want to do something about it. I am quite thankful he's extending his all-out support for this blogging hobby/pastime of mine. I love you, husband. Now, I hope to be able to pick up where I left off.

it's a pleasure to be listened to

If you ask me today what kind of job I would want to do if I weren't doing what I am doing today, the first thing that comes to my mind is the teaching profession. Hopefully, someday I would get to fulfill this. However, there's another dream job that I would also want to try one day and that is to be a DJ. One of the challenges of aspiring DJs, though, is on their ability and willingness to learn how to operate different kinds of technology as they come. For me, I think I'd make a good DJ because I can imagine myself having fun while getting my hands busy with any DJ equipment. I thought it would be great to be listened to or to have an audience when you're talking or when you're playing music. I think this is a job that doesn't really feel like it's a job at all, especially if you're the type who loves music and is not also leaning to only a specific genre. Well, with this really cool job of playing and mixing music and talking to listeners, aging will

the little girl and her pink helmet

Image
Our little preschooler loves her usual routine every weekday and that's because she gets to ride with her father on a bicycle on the way to and going back from school. Although we have a motorcycle, husband doesn't want to drive it when our daughter has to ride in it as well. He feels more at ease to have our daughter with him in the bicycle. After all, school is just around the corner; so, rather than having a pedicab ('trike') driver fetch her to and from school,  he finds it practical if he just pedals the bike through with our daughter as passenger. With this means of transportation, we have also saved a little.  Of course, besides making sure to drive safely and more carefully, he also lets her wear a helmet. He also made sure she is safely harnessed before he drives. Today, I woke up to find him doing some minor tinkering with the bike (added a new seat) as he wants the little girl safely seated in front beginning tomorrow. Speaking of schooldays, though, we are

towards our seventh this year

My husband is not the type who wants to wear jewelries and accessories. Yes, he is that simple. If there's one jewelry that I can ask him to wear, that would have to be our wedding ring; although that, too, is something I would sometimes need to remind him about. Anyway, speaking of my husband, I realized we've been married for almost seven years already. The other day, I jokingly hinted at him that since he did not give me anything on Valentine's Day (he's not the showy or mushy type), the seven years of our marriage very well deserve a Scott Kay wedding band as our anniversary gift for each other this year. Thankfully (not really sure why I said 'thankfully'), he didn't really say No to this suggestion. I thought I should at least feel a pang of hope but he only said to wait another 18 years. LOL. By then, I'm sure I would already have a different wish. Seriously, I'm really not that materialistic; although I also wouldn't mind being spoiled so

feeling recharged

Today, I'm happy I've had the chance to send my little girl off to school. Rarely do I get the chance to do this because of my work schedule. This is why whenever  I would enjoy a day off from work because of a holiday or a service incentive leave, I would always want to spend it by making time with my daughter. When she woke up this morning, she was so happy to see me. At first, she thought it's still a weekend (and that's because she found me not in a rush  to go to work) that she refused to prepare to go to school. She eventually complied after I've explained to her that it's a Monday and that her mom is just enjoying a holiday off. Thanks to Presidents Day, I'm so glad to have enjoyed long weekends at home with the family. Tomorrow is going to be a lot different than today, though; but no matter how busy the rest of the week would turn out for me, I think I am already prepared for it. After all,  I have already recharged myself for a couple of days. Brin

remembering that jewelry I lost

While commuting on my way home from work, I overheard two passengers talking about their upcoming graduation and how eager they were to attend their Graduation Ball and Ring Hop. They were talking about what to wear to the ball and where they would like to order their class rings from. Someone mentioned that her mom (a nurse abroad) had already ordered at Joy Jewelers and had already scheduled a flight to be with her on her Ring Hop and graduation. How touching! Suddenly, I remembered about my very own class ring which I pawned at a jewelry store (now this is a bit embarrassing) when I was still starting out on my very first job. Oh, I vowed to forget all about it but now I'm accidentally walking down that part of Memory Lane again. I needed extra money then and thought I could get it back within a month or two. Unfortunately, for some reason (and it's a long story which also boils down to financial reasons and a personal choice of priorities), I was not able to redeem it. Nev

a storm welcomes February

Today, I'm glad I'm already home when the rain started to fall. How long ago has it been since the last storm? Our country is now again passed by a new typhoon called Basyang . It's Signal #2 here in our region as I am writing this. Hopefully, this storm signal will not be raised any further a few hours from now. It's raining here and a bit windy. Glad I still have Internet at this time. I thought I need to catch up on my blogging itineraries because there's a good chance that we will have no electricity tomorrow. I hope and pray that the storm will leave us peacefully, quietly, and with zero to less damage or casualties.

what's in store for the really serious musicians

Technology has already made it possible for composers, bands and musicians to conveniently explore or create great songs and great music in their own homes. Time was when recording and mixing of audio would necessitate access to a recording studio of a recording company. It can also be recalled back then that musical equipment for recording and mixing of sounds can take up a lot of space and were too expensive and impractical for the average musicians to have. Today, as technology got better and sleeker, musicians can already have their own recording studios in the comfort and convenience of their own homes. With a portable recording equipment, for example, one can already do a lot of things to create high quality music and sound in the bedroom, living room or any part of the house. It should be space-friendly, too. For those who are really serious about their music craft, this is not too huge an expense for them. Practically, this is an equipment for them to have as this may help furt

let's give an A for her effort

Since English is not really our first language, we would already consider it a milestone for our preschooler daughter when she tries to converse to us in English. Every time she would hear or learn a new English word, phrase or sentence in school, she wouldn't miss sharing it to us when she gets home. I recalled there was one time when she explained what "empty" meant when she finished her milk and then showed us an "empty" glass. I can't remember exactly when it was that she first understood what empty meant, though. However, I found it kind of funny somehow when my husband shared to me her conversation with our daughter some time the other week. This was what happened. Our little girl told him that she peeped through the door in her classroom to see if her father was outside waiting for her when she's done with her class. She then asked him, " Papa, why were you empty? " and then concluded that perhaps he just went out for a while to buy lun

hey it's been awhile

I am not even sure if I'm prepared to do a blog today but it sure feels awful not being able to see anything new on my page. Thus, I really feel like sitting down for awhile and see if I can make even just a single update. It was a fun December last year for me. I can't remember exactly how many parties I joined and went to but I had remembered what it felt to celebrate with friends and family. At a company Christmas party where there was a raffle draw, I won and brought home an induction cooker. I've never been lucky with raffle draws. Almost always, my name would never get picked that I never expected to win anything anymore. Anyway, I'm glad I won that appliance. It's good to have one so that we can have something  we can conveniently use when our gas stove runs out of LPG.
