on birthdays and good riddance

If there is one thing that help other friends remember the day of my birthday - that would be because my birthday falls on Veterans Day. In short, you also need to remember what date Veterans Day is being celebrated annually. It's funny because some of my friends I met at work a few years back would rather celebrate Veterans Day than celebrate my birthday with them. I really don't blame them if they'd like to get rid of my birthday on the calendar because I usually celebrate my birthdays the frugal way. That means "no birthday spree" from me especially now that we have a baby. :-)

Anyway, it is definitely an honor to have co-celebrated my birthday with the military veterans. The bravery/courage they have shown for their country is truly admirable and worthy of emulation. Now, I've learned that there's a very good way of honoring these military veterans. You can do this by donating your old vehicle. Wow, I wish I can do something like that but we don't even own a car. LOL. If you remember a few months ago, I wrote that my husband was once driving his sister's car (named Oliver) for a while. Well, Oliver was no longer in our custody. Sister-in-law already sold it because of high maintenance cost and it's not practical to keep him (Oliver) because sister-in-law and her hubby had already gone back to Norway.

Here's an interesting thing my good friends from the U.S. should know about donating cars in honor of the veterans. If you donate your old cars, vans or trucks, you will get a tax deduction for it. Cool, right? I heard it is so easy to donate your car in chicago where all it takes is just to fill out and send the donation form and the vehicle will be picked up any day you want. You will also get the same convenience and tax deduction opportunity from the said car donation program.

Well, if you'd like to get rid of your old car instead of letting it lie around your garage for so long, going into car donation for the benefit of the veterans, where you can also enjoy a tax deduction, might be a good idea.

Hmmm. I think this is what we would call good riddance, right? :-)

  7. Happy Birthday Meretrisha. May you have many more blessed and abundant birthdays to come. Donating cars in the Philippines is unheard of. Even cars headed for the junk pile have some value in them. Probably the rich people in the US can do that to avail of tax deductions. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
